From 1st January 2023 it has become mandatory (new law) for equine owners to hold the Certification de Détenteur d'Equidé in France!
What is the Capacité Détenteur d’Equidé (equine keeper capacity) ?
The equine keeper qualification is aimed at all FFE licence holders and more particularly at owners or future owners who wish to acquire the essential knowledge to manage an equine on a daily basis by maximising its well-being and to be in compliance with the obligations and regulations in force.
A short training course exists to validate your ability
This course covers the following content
. Behaviour, needs and lifestyle,
. Feeding and housing,
. The horse in good health,
. The main diseases, their prevention and first aid while waiting for the vet,
. Daily care management,
. Handling of horses and maintenance of equipment and facilities,
. Obligations and regulations relating to the keeping of equines,
. Where and how to update your knowledge in this field.
The Equine keeper capacity is composed of 2 modules (A and B) of 7 hours each which can be followed and validated independently of each other.
How to obtain your Equine Keeper Capacity?
Module A: theoretical
This module will enable you to acquire the theoretical, technical and regulatory knowledge relating to the keeping of equidae.
It is totally digital since it is given online on the FFE Campus where you can connect with your licence identifiers. You will have access to several courses composed of videos and you will be evaluated by a QCM after each chapter. To validate your module A, you must obtain a minimum total score of 80%.
Module B: practical
This module will enable you to acquire practical know-how relating to the keeping of equines. It takes place in an equestrian establishment approved by the FFE or can be obtained by equivalence (with the Galop 4 for example).
